Water Play in a Small Way

The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful. – e.e. cummings

I think it is fair to say that most children are enamored with water.  Water in puddles, pools, lakes, bathtubs… they love it all!  Parents on the other hand, seem to have mixed feelings.  Swimming lessons = fun.  Pouring water onto kitchen floor = not fun.  Well, I have some good news… this sponging activity = fun for both parties!

Your introduction of this activity is very important.  Your child needs to watch you model it all the way through once, before she tries it out with your help.  Not only will this help her to do the activity properly, it will also demonstrate to her the wild fun of squeezing each sponge into the bowl (read: not onto the floor!)

Happy water play in a small way!
