Pattern Making

Looking for a simple activity this morning?  Does your little one show interest in colors?  This is a neat way to introduce pattern making to children.  All you need are a few sets of 3 objects of the same color and paper to type or write a pattern strip.  A few tips… I printed the written color name in the actual color for my pre-readers (i.e. “Red” is written in red).  Also, on one side of the pattern strip I wrote a complete ABABAB pattern (i.e. red, blue, red, blue, red, blue) for children who are just learning about pattern making.  On the flip side of the pattern strip however, I left the last square empty so the child could predict what would come next.  He can flip it over to check his work!  How do you work on patterns at home?
