We had a wonderful celebration of Autumn in our classroom on Halloween morning. We began with a small group vocabulary lesson in which the children were introduced to all of the ingredients and tools used to make Pumpkin Cream Cheese. The children each helped to match the real ingredients (i.e. canned pumpkin) and tools (i.e. whisk) to coordinating three part cards. Then, with the help of their parents, the children peeled & cored apples with one of my favorite kitchen tools – the apple peeler – which they dipped into the cream cheese. I love candy but I have to say, this treat was even better! The best part was watching the amazing families of Humboldt Park Montessori enjoy their Halloween snack together!
