Our just-one year old daughter’s signature move right now is pointing (to everything) and signing, “please!” It feels like a invitation to offer kindling for her curiosity.
She has a special affinity for small objects right now. Her favorite way to interact with them is to put them in her mouth and then to walk around with one in each hand 🙂
With this in mind, I prepared sensory exploration baskets for her, sorted by color, and placed within her reach. Each basket has five objects in it at a time. Additional objects, also sorted by color, are stored in ziploc bags in our cabinet to make refreshing them a breeze.
She is free to explore them independently and then our clean up time together gives her an opportunity to learn to sort by color!
